Two-thirds of couples still have sex while staying with their families over Christmas, according to a new Lovehoney survey.

Just under half of women (44 per cent) said they found relatives could be a distraction, compared to half of men (50 per cent).

Despite these figures, almost two-thirds of couples still get it on at either their parents’ house or the in-laws over the festive period.

Christmas Eve is the sexiest day of the festive holiday with 60 per cent of couples saying they like to have sex on the 24th.

New Year’s Eve comes second with 58 per cent of couples expecting to welcome in 2020 with a night of passion.

In contrast, just 47 per cent of respondents said they would have sex on Christmas Day or Boxing Day – with 41 per cent saying that overindulging would kill their passion.

Half of couples said they felt friskier at Christmas than any other time of the year because they were off work and the booze was flowing.

The findings are from a Lovehoney poll of 2,175 people for the launch of its Enchanted and Lustre Christmas lingerie collections.

Lovehoney wanted to gauge how much sex everyone enjoys at Christmas and New Year and found that lingerie was the most popular sexy present with 57 per cent of couples splashing out.

A Lovehoney spokesperson said: “Christmas is a wonderful time for couples to show their love for each other, which is why it is the busiest time of the year at Lovehoney.

“It’s no surprise that Christmas Eve is the most popular night for passion; it’s the most magical time of the year!”
