Snow more, please! 5 more inches possible this weekend

(Mankato, MN) – Forecasters are predicting more snow to pile up this weekend in what could be the snowiest February in the history of Minnesota.

According to the National Weather Service, another five inches of snow could fall on the region between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Forecasts indicate that Saturday will start out sunny and in the 20’s, but a 60% chance of snow is predicted for nighttime. About two total inches are possible throughout the night, with up to three more inches falling on Sunday morning.

Whatever accumulations southern Minnesota amasses will be added to the 17.5 inches that have already fallen in February, according to KEYC News 12 Chief Meteorologist Mark Tarello.

Following the weekend snowfall, President’s Day expected to be cloudy and cold overnight with the possibility of yet another February round of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday.
