(Mankato, MN) – Playground equipment has been selected for Washington Park and is expected to be installed later this summer.

The new playground concept was revealed in a press release from the city.  The equipment will feature a railroad theme to align with area history.  The park, which is located on North Fourth Street – was once the site of a main railroad line – the “Fourth Street Route” – for the Minnesota Valley Railway Company.  The city of Mankato purchased the property in 1913.  It was dedicated as Washington Park in 1915.
