MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minneapolis man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his child’s mother on Thanksgiving.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says 41-year-old Randall Watkins could make an appearance in court Tuesday on a charge of second-degree intentional murder in the death of 27-year-old Raven Gant.

According to the criminal complaint, police responded to a domestic dispute call Thanksgiving night and found Gant wounded on the floor. She died that night at North Memorial Medical Center. Authorities say the couple’s two-year-old daughter was present at the crime scene.

The complaint says Gant had been trying to get away from Watkins because of prior physical abuse. She had gone to his house to retrieve some personal belongings. It was not immediately clear if Watkins has an attorney.
