Man charged with shooting at officers trying to search home

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A man is charged with shooting at police officers trying to search his home in Dayton northwest of Minneapolis.

Prosecutors on Thursday charged 26-year-old Faris Hussien with three counts of first-degree assault, using deadly force against a peace officer.

Authorities say when three police officers went to Hussien’s home with a search warrant on Tuesday, he fired at the officers. One of the officers returned fire. No one was hurt, but one officer had five bullet holes in his clothing.

The officer was not wearing a bulletproof vest. Hussien is expected to make his first court appearance Friday.
