(Mankato, MN) – KEYC News 12 has announced they’ll extend their weekday morning newscast.

The expanded broadcast will include an additional half hour of local news and weather Monday – Friday.

KEYC News 12 This Morning will now air thirty minutes earlier, starting at 5:30 a.m. with anchors Lisa Cownie, Kelsey Barchenger, and meteorologist Tom Clements.  The newscast will wrap up as usual at 7 a.m.

“Mornings are an important time of the day for people to learn about the day ahead of them as they get ready,” said News Director Mitch Keegan.  “Having an extra half hour of local news and weather will be even more beneficial.”

The addition of the half hour in the morning means that KEYC News 12 will feature more than 24 hours of local news, weather, and sports each week.
