38 Shopko Stores are Closing

Shopko released a statement today saying that they will be closing 38 stores and 20 optical stores as a result of their voluntary bankruptcy filings. In the statement the CEO of Shopko said “In a challenging retail environment, we have had to make some very tough choices, but we are confident that by operating a smaller and more focused store footprint, we will be able to build a stronger Shopko that will better serve our customers, vendors, employees and other stakeholders through this process.”

There is no word on which stores will be closing, I would guess that the Mankato store would be closing as everytime I am in there it is dead. However, it is one of my favorite stores to shop, especially the “As Seen on TV” aisle! What are your thoughts? Comment below!
